Using environment variables to parametrize database connections in DMExpress is recommended as a best practice to make the application portable and easier to maintain.
Environment variables can be used to specify the following settings in the Database Connection dialog:
The referenced environment variables must be set to the appropriate values at both design and run time to successfully connect to the desired database.
Parametrizing the database connection information provides the following advantages:
In both cases, you simply change the values of the referenced environment variables.
