Troubleshooting DMExpress Version Incompatibility Errors

Article #: Product: Version:

Summary

DMExpress version incompatibility errors are generated in the following conditions:

When this happens, it is necessary to upgrade the older server/client to a version that is at least as high as the newer client/job/task.

Resolution

The following table describes the conditions under which DMExpress can issue version incompatibility errors, the error message issued in those cases, and the action to take to eliminate the error condition:

Error Condition Error Code/Message Action
Newer DMExpress client against older DMExpress server The DMExpress client can not connect to the DMExpress server (<server>) because the server version is lower than the client version. Upgrade the DMExpress Server to a version at least as high as the client connecting to it.
Newer DMExpress job in older DMExpress Job Editor The file <file> does not contain a DMExpress Job

Upgrade the DMExpress Client to a version at least as high as the version used to modify the job.

Note that this error occurs when the file loaded is invalid for any reason, not just version incompatibility.

Newer DMExpress task in older DMExpress Task Editor The file <file> was created with a later version of DMExpress Task Editor. It cannot be opened by the current version that you are using. Upgrade the DMExpress Client to a version at least as high as the version used to modify the task.
Newer DMExpress job against older DMExpress server (JOBFILEFORMATERROR) unexpected file format encountered in job file <file> Upgrade the DMExpress Server to a version at least as high as the version of the Job Editor used to modify the job.
Newer DMExpress task against older DMExpress server This configuration produces unpredictable results, yielding a (PUPAR) unexpected token error, other errors, or even no error, and is not recommended. Upgrade the DMExpress Server to a version at least as high as the version of the Task Editor used to modify the task.
