The attached I/O Benchmark tests can be used to the test I/O performance of a given device on various hardware/OS platforms. These tests help determine whether there is an I/O performance issue that may be impacting overall DMExpress job/task performance. A Syncsort Engineer will direct you on where to run the tests and how to interpret the results.
The attached I/O benchmark tests provide a simple means for testing the I/O performance for a particular hardware and operating system combination.
Attached are benchmark tests for both Unix/Linux and Windows.
Extract the tar file for your particular Unix/Linux platform. Each tar file contains a script, ioBenchmark.sh, and the necessary executables for running the test on that platform.
Extract the Windows zip file, which contains a script, ioBenchmark.bat, and the necessary executables for running the test on Windows.
Run the I/O benchmark tests as follows:
<scriptname> <directory> <size>
||is ioBenchmark.sh for Unix/Linux and ioBenchmark.bat for Windows|
||is the directory for which you would like to test the I/O performance|
||is the size in GB of the file that will be created. The test will generate up to four files of the specified size at once, so be sure that you have 4 x <size> space available for running the tests. These generated files will be deleted automatically upon test completion.|
./ioBenchmark.sh /etl/dmexpress/data/ 5
ioBenchmark.bat C:\dmexpress\data\ 5
